Baby pixies adore their cousins, the fairies.

Pixies tend to live in woodlands, beneath the roots of trees

and so take on the colours of their background -

darker, earthy colours.

They follow their brighter-hued cousins around,

scrambling to keep up sometimes while their cousins

flit from flower to tree, to flower

again like butterflies.

Pixies are very adept at hiding,

and are hardly ever seen by any human.

They love to befriend sick tiny animals -

such as injured mice or tiny sparrows.

Again, children are more likely to see pixies

than grown-up humans.

Wherever there is a fairy ring, where fairies gather to

celebrate, you will find pixie attendants - roped in to

help serve the refreshments, keep the celebrations

running well,

and babysit the tinier baby fairies and pixies.
